Double Doubles

Rick Ankiel doubles to put runners at second and third, and Rolen doubles to drive them both in during the first inning as the Cardinals jump out to a 2-0 lead against the Cubs. Ankiel now has nine hits in nine games, five for extra bases.

Update: After the Cubs tie the game on home runs by Ward and DeRosa, Rolen picks up another double in the third to put the Cardinals up again. With Pujols on third and Encarnacion on second, Rolen hit a grounder that handcuffs Ramirez at third. It bounces over him, ends up on the outfield grass, but Encarnacion can't advance beyond third. One of those strange doubles that doesn't advance a runner two bases. The Cardinals lead 4-2 in the bottom of the third.

Update: They just finished five inning in Chicago with the Cardinals leading 5-3. Right on cue, the rains came. They're still playing, but the umbrellas are out.

Lively game. Cubs get one back in the bottom of the third but a double play prevents further damage. 4-3 St. Louis after three.
