Clay-mation
Clay Buchholz wins his first major league start as the Red Sox defeat the Angels 8-4. The start was okay. He last six innings, throwing 91 pitches, 64% for strikes. He gave up eight hits and three walks, but the Red Sox also turned three double plays behind him. Buchholz allowed four runs, three earned, which truthfully will result in a win more often than not with this team.
Mirabelli goes on the DL, so the Red Sox are rushing a backup catcher to Boston. I assume they want the kid to start to rest Varitek, but if he doesn't get there in time, Jason is likely to catch both games and take tomorrow off.
Lackey managed to last four innings after a very rough first inning, and Bootcheck went three to save the LAnaheim bullpen for the second game.

CUBS WIN, CUBS WIN, CUBS WIN!!!
The kid is 29-yearold Kevin Cash and his minor league numbers over the last two seasons are ghastly. We're talking Wil Nieves-level of production here, so this actually could be a significant injury.
