Hanging On
The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the LAnaheim Angels 2-1 tonight, gaining on the Yankees, Mariners and Red Sox. And while 10 1/2 games is a bit far back in the AL East, their 5 1/2 game deficit in the wild card race is small enough to keep them in the hunt.
Toronto almost had to win this game tonight. Both their offense and pitching perform better at home than on the road, and both the Angels offense and pitching perform much worse on the road. Marcum continues to pitch well, walking one and striking out six in seven innings of work. The one run he allowed tonight brings his ERA as a starter down to 2.91.
