Hesitation Hurts

Philip Hughes just learned a lesson about hustle. With men on second and third and one out after a wild pitch, Hughes strikes out Bako, but Redman hits a hard shot to the hole between first and second. Phillips has Redman played perfectly, but Hughes hesitates before starting to cover first. The throw comes in low, the ball is kicked, and both runners score to increase the Orioles lead to 3-0. It was a costly mistake for Hughes, but one that he's unlikely to forget.

I saw at ESPN that Tike Redman knocked in two runners with an infield single. I was wondering how it was possible to accomplish that. Your description explains it, though it seems it's rather generous to give Redman a hit on a play like that.

The official scorer later changed the play to give Redman one RBI.
