Two Dye For
The White Sox take the game against the Yankees 13-9. After the 8-8 tie, Jermaine Dye delivered the game winning RBI in the fourth with a two run homer. He later hit a solo shot, and picked up two doubles as well for a dozen total bases on the day. He raised his slugging percentage almost 30 points today. The Yankees lose a game in both the Wild Card and AL East races.

In three days, the Yankees have scored 33 runs, hit 15 homeruns, and gained exactly zero games in the AL East standings. That has to be frustrating...
Your listing all the reasons why the Red Sox should have gone for J. Dye and not Gagne. Sox need a Dye for their outfield where Drew and Pena don't cut it. Dye is also good for clubhouse. If Schilling doesn't hold up and Tavarez has lost his way as starter, then the Sox gave away a starter in Gappard. Someone should tally all of Epstein's deals and see whether he has boosted the Sox as GM.
Where are the masters of statistical projection that predicted Clemens would have a 2.5 ERA in the comments around the signing. What a joke!
Forget the East, they dug out of the hole thanks to the Wild Card.
