Braves-Rangers Deal?

Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Braves and Rangers are about to make a deal that would send Teixeira to the Braves and Saltalamacchia to the Rangers. Texas also gives up Ron Mahay and receives three other minor leaguers. I'll wait for the deal to be completed before undertaking an analysis.

The deal looks like a go, so if you get the chance I'm really dying to go ahead an read your analysis.

As a Braves fan, I'm pumped. For the past several years, ever since the team's payroll was frozen at about 80 mil, the team has been putting all of it's stock in the farm system. And while I think that's a good M.O. in general, I'm happy to see the team willing to make a deal for a real impact out-of-system player, even at the expense of a valued prospect. Also, I trust Atlanta scouts; the team doesn't have a history of trading away future superstars (maybe with the exception of Jason Schmidt).

With Chipper and Renteria having career years, and Francoeur, McCann and Johnson having solid years and Andruw in possibly his last year with the team, I say let's make a run right now. The Mets are almost as inconsistent as we are, so I think we have a real shot.
