Trade Rumor

I just turned on the Devil Rays/Yankees game, and the New York announcers are saying that the Yankees are trading for Jose Molina of the LAnaheim Angels. The word is the Yankees will send Jeff Kennard, AA relief pitcher to the west coast. Jeff is having a good year in 2007. In the past, he's walked a lot of batters.

The Yankees are getting their revenge for yesterday's blowout. They won game one 7-3, and are leading 17-5 in the night cap. Alex Rodriguez hit his 33rd home run of the season, and 497th of his career.

The Yanks can make all the trades they want. They're not going to catch the Sox or get the wild card. A-Rod's been carrying them, but he'll disappear in September when the pressure rises.

"It ain't over 'til it's over."

Just 7.5 back of the Red Sox, with 6 head-to-head games against them, anything is possible with 2 months left in the season.

Wild card would actually be tougher to win, because the Yankees would have to rely on other teams to win/lose. With the Red Sox, they can (almost) control their own fate.

This trade is nothing more than adding defensive depth, which is nice, but I think the Yankees need to work a little more on their bullpen. Phil Hughes's return soon is almost like trading for a pitcher, so the starting rotation can be overlooked, but it would still be nice to nab a big name pitcher (none on the market though).
