Fight Saves a Run?
A very weird play just happened in Oakland. With the Mariners trailing 3-2 in the top of the seventh, Seattle loads the bases against Joe Blanton. Ibanez then hits a double to left field. The throw comes in to Crosby, who throws home trying to get Lopez. The ball hits the ground and ricochetes over to the Mariners on deck circle, where Ellison and Ichiro (both of whom just scored) are standing. The ball is under Ichrio and Blanton pushes Suzuki out of the way. Ichiro seems fine with this, but Ellison wasn't and starts a fight. The ump calls time and both benches empty.
However, it seemed to me that if the fight hadn't started, Ibanez might have scored. Once Blanton made contact with Suzuki, he didn't try to pick up the ball. It could be that once the ball hit Ichiro's foot it was dead, but I'm not up on the rule involving hitting a player no longer part of the action. The Mariners take a 5-3 lead, and the umpires are trying to determine who should be ejected.

Does anyone know what the heck Blanton said to Ichiro? Ellison made it clear that he didn't like what he said without specifying what was actually said. I'm sure it was something about Ichiro being Asian or something but I'm curious.
