Granderson and Polanco
Curtis Granderson hit a home run today for the Tigers, raising his slugging percentage to .578. Given that he hits for power and Polanco does a better job of getting on base, shouldn't Leyland reverse them in the order? Seven of Granderson's nine home runs were solo shots. It seems if he were batting behind someone with a good OBA, more of those home runs would come with men on base.

I agree, sort of. But Polanco is so damn effective at moving runners along, he really IS a natural number two hitter. I look at Granderson as a maturing leadoff hitter who happens to have some power, and Polanco being on base for Sheffield and Magglio still gives the lineup pretty much the same benefits.
If it's working, I say leave well enough alone.
BTW, Polanco deserves to start the All-Star Game.
