The link at the end of the Fishstripes column is hilarious and shouldn't be missed. I didn't look at the url when I clicked on it and I thought it was for real until I saw it was from a Giants site.
Benitez could easily be flipped again at the deadline. The Marlins got him for a rock-bottom price, and if posts a good month and a half there, they can flip him again for a greater value than Messenger.
That's probably the plan, because the Marlins aren't going to make the playoffs this year.
Some team will still overpay for Benitez in a trade if he posts a good next month and half or so, because he's a "name" closer, and there teams that value that, especially if a team like the Phils is still contending in late July and hard up for relief.
A good move for Larry Beinfest, and a typically poor one for Brian Sabean. Just as one would expect.
Sabean is the champion of buy high and sell low.

I just don't buy it. Benitez has a proven track record of being a big game no-show. I know it's easy to kick a guy when he's down but I have a hard time thinking of any closer who has shown less guts than Benitez over his career.
