Fifth Shutout

The Orioles and Royals played after a rain delay last night, and the batters were all wet for seven innings. Bedard and Meche stayed locked in a scoreless tie until the eighth, when little ball plated the only run Erik Bedard would need for the win. A walk, bunt single, sacrifice and single by Patterson made the score 1-0. Bedard finished the eighth with his pitch count at 112. The Orioles scored two more in the ninth, and Chris Ray pitched a perfect inning for the save. Nice to see Baltimore's offense and bullpen working together to get a win for a great starting performance. The Orioles are now 10 1/2 games behind the Red Sox.
