Shielding the Bullpen

It's nice to see a good, young pitcher allowed to complete a game. The Tigers got to James Shields early tonight, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. But Shields held the Tigers scoreless the rest of the way, allowing just two hits over the next eight innings. Meanwhile, the Devil Rays offense inched back into the game, taking the lead in the sixth on a Harris home run. The Devil Rays win 5-3 and Shields runs his record to 4-0. Iwamura reached base three more times to raise his OBA to a Barry Bonds like .488.
