A Haren Lower

Dan Haren keeps looking like the best candidate for the AL Cy Young award. He pitched eight innings of one-run ball to lower his ERA to 1.64, still best in the American League. It wasn't an outstanding performance; he walked three and only struck out four. But Texas only punched out four hits.

On the Oakland side of the offense, everyone but Eric Chavez reached base by a hit. No Oakland player homered, but they did bang out four doubles and a triple to win 6-1. The A's reach the .500 mark again and sit 5 1/2 games out pending the outcome of the Mariners-Angels game later.
