High Probability Shutout
The Cardinals and Padres went into today's game at opposite ends of the shutout spectrum. The Padres pitchers led the majors with five shutouts thrown. The Cardinals offense led the majors with five times shutout. So it's no surprise that the Padres took the game 3-0 this afternoon. Justin Germano made his second good start for the Padres, lasting seven innings to lower his ERA to 0.69. Hoffman pitched the ninth for his tenth save. Trevor now lies eight saves away from 500 for his career. No home runs in the game, so no contributions for breast cancer research from this game.
