No Hitter Through Six

Philip Hughes continues to no-hit the Rangers. Through six innings he's walked three, struck out six and threw just 77 pitches. With the help of two double plays, he's faced just one batter over the minimum.

Update: Uh-oh. Hughes gets the first out in the seventh. He then throws a pitch to run the count 0-2 on Teixeira, then grabs his left leg. Looks like he pulled a hamstring. It's bad enough he leaves the game in the middle of a no-hitter, but the Yankees continue their bad luck with starting pitchers.

Update: Myers enters the game and gets the final two outs of the inning. The no-hitter is still intact as the Yankees lead 9-0 after seven innings.

I guess that was what all the hype was about. The pitching, I mean, not the scary hamstring pull. Terrible luck for Hughes and the Yankees but quite a look at his skills.

Serious hamstring, "at least six weeks" (Torre). No idea about a 'best case scenario' (Cashman).

Look, at least this protects Phil from being run into the ground by Torre! Hamstring problems are routine, don't signal any long term problem, etc... and the kid's the real deal. All in all, I'd say the Yankees have more to celebrate tonight than to moan about.

Then again, they'll have to figure out who starts in five days.

Clemens price tag just went up, yet again.

James, you're believing the hype. Torre's very conservative with his starters, it's relievers he's not as careful with.
