Number Nine
Alex Rodriguez hits his ninth home run of the season, a two-run shot that extends the Yankees lead over Cleveland to 8-2. It almost seems that Alex absorbed all the home run power from the usual sluggers who are off to a slow start. He's now just two behind Thome, Stargell and Musial, and twenty behind Yankees great Lou Gehrig.

Thome has 2 tonite...Buehrle has a no-hitter thru 7.
I'm glad to see A-Rod having a good start to the year. I'd hate to see how the NY media would get on him if he even choked in one game during the first couple weeks. He's got a fine little hitting streak...13 games now I think.
The NY media and a fair number of yankee fans will kill him when the inevitable cold streak hits. Doubly so if it coincides with a the team dropping a couple series. He needs to win the MVP while the team wins the World Series. A failure on either count will bring renewed bashing. He can't win in this town.
