Tribute

Richard Hoyland writes:

I'm watching the Braves and the Nats at RFK tonight. The Nats are wearing various versions of Virginia Tech ballcaps. Nice touch---somebody's thinking in that organization.

Has anyone noticed if other organizations are doing anything similar?

they are the only team that I have seen do anything but they are also the closest team to Tech. There is a huge contingent of Hokies in the DC area. Apparently the idea was from Ryan Zimmerman, who is from Virginia and went to UVA. As a hokie and a nat fan, I thought it was a great tribute.

i think it's a great idea also.

i'm getting a little tired of all the espn coverage though. it's a little much. sports is still supposed to be an escape right?

Not to ignore the whole Virginia Tech thing, but did anyone else notice Jeff Francoeur drawing a walk of the season in tonight's game? So far this year he's walked 6 times in 45 at-bats, or once every 7.5 ABs -- which is 3.5 times his walk rate in more than 900 previous ABs. I rolled my eyes when I heard in spring training that he'd vowed to be more patient this year, but so far it looks like he's actually doing it.

Er, ignore that "of the season" bit -- shoddy editing on my part.

The VT Hat idea actually came to the Nationals via a fan email. Good on them to follow through though. It makes sense for the Nats because they are closest to the campus.
