Worse Than Thought

Chris Carpenter goes on the disabled list, as his elbow turns out to be worse than thought:

Cardinals staff ace Chris Carpenter was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday after an MRI exam in St. Louis revealed arthritis and a previously undiscovered impingement in his right elbow.

The next thing we'll hear is that the rest didn't work and he'll require surgery.

Coming up on Worse Than Thought, Jason Schmidt's hamstring!

Someone needs to investigate why, once they knew his elbow was swollen, the Cards had Carpenter throw a bullpen session rather than have an MRI right away.

I don't see anything about Schmidt's hamstring in that link.

No mystery, the Cardinals team doctor is a joke. He blew the initial diagnosis of Rolen, Edmonds, Mulder, among others.
