Walker Grievence

The MLBPA will file a grievence on behalf of Todd Walker. I wish one of these stories on the subject would explain why the union thinks this was wrongful termination.

Yeah- when you are terrible can't a team cut you? I guess not. I don't know of any contract that assures inclusion on the roster- just money! He'll latch on with another team. Why stay where you are not wanted or needed?

I think it has more to do with the timing of the cut; the argument is that if he was cut earlier (like when Giles was signed and he obviously didnt have a job), he could have latched on with another team that needed a 2B like the Nats or Cards.

A case could be made that cutting Walker immediately after signing Giles would have been worse, as Walker wouldn't have had the opportunity to compete for a job in the first place. I'm not sure I buy that argument entirely, but it's something to consider.
