Pedro's Progress

Pedro Martinez can start throwing soon:

New York Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez can start throwing Saturday as part of his recuperation from October rotator cuff surgery.

The Mets don't expect him in a game until August, but this is certainly a good sign.

Baseball Musings is holding a pledge drive in March.

Hey, it brought the Mets respectability, which allowed them to sign Beltran, then subsequently Wagner, Fernando Martinez partly signed with the Mets because of Pedro, so he did a whole lot for the Mets besides pitching, making the investment more than worth the money

i might be wrong but i'm pretty sure it was a 4-year deal....and he pitched excellently 1.5 years out of 2 so far. i'm not laughing.
