No Cards
This recent post about baseball cards got me in the mood to buy a pack, so when I was out this afternoon on errands, I stopped by the local CVS to buy a pack of Topps. I looked through the candy rack at the front of the store, but didn't see any. I asked the cashier, and she told me CVS didn't carry them anymore! I guess they've really lost popularity.
Baseball Musings is holding a pledge drive in March.
Target carries baseball cards, but sadly that's about the only place i can think of that does (outside a card shop)
Cards are just a business now. I stopped in 1990 when things started to go the wrong way.
A few years ago I got the urge to buy my first pack in some time. I went to the card store and bought a pack of some Prospects set by Upper Deck. And wouldn't you know I pulled an autographed BJ Upton card. I didn't even know they were putting signed cards and pieces of bats in cards and all that.
Man, I thought that Upton card would take care of retirement.
I see them at Target all the time too. But it seems like every pack is about $2 and you get 6 or 8 cards.
I guess I must be old. That seems like a small fortune for very few cards.
I agree, Mike. Where is the day when you got a pack of cards for less than a buck? I still remember getting them for a dime, and I'm only 41.
