Motivation
Justin Morneau found his motivation for 2007:
"If anything, I'd say I probably worked a little harder this offseason," Morneau said. "I've got something to prove this year. Some (fans) didn't believe it was right. People are sitting there waiting to say last year was a fluke. I'm going to go out and prove them wrong again."
To many in the Twins' clubhouse, Morneau seems hungrier entering this season. His teammates and manager Ron Gardenhire are impressed that all the attention the 25-year-old first baseman has received since winning the award hasn't seemed to create even an inkling of an ego.
Good for him. It's a bad idea to rest on your laurels.

One thing you'll notice about Canadian players...no egos on any of them. And they hit left almost exclusively, thanks to the hockey influence (righties usually shoot left in hockey, and it carries over to baseball). Examples: Justin Morneau, Larry Walker, Matt Stairs, Corey Koskie, Scott Thorman. Crazy, eh?
Just follow in the footsteps of Twins former long time 1B star Kent Hrbek and you'll have a great career. For his last contract, Herbie could have gotten lots more elsewhere, but stayed with his hometown team.
One more Hrbek comment: In his last appearance at Baltimore, Hrbek stood in the on-deck circle as the TV camera panned his very ample (part time bartender) frame and O's commentator Johnny Lowenstein quipped: "Body by Moosehead !".
Re: Morneau

"righties usually shoot left in hockey"
No, they don't. Some do, but the vast majority do not.
