Nao a No-No

Via MetsBlog.com, Pedro Martinez worked out this winter with a black-listed trainer:

Pedro Martinez continues to stand by controversial fitness guru and massage therapist Angel "Nao" Presinal. And Presinal, in turn, promises to deliver something sure to brighten the New York Mets' pennant hopes come late summer -- a return of the vintage Pedro.

Presinal was caught along with Juan Gonzalez trying to take steroids into Canada in 2001. Although neither was ever charged (authorities couldn't confirm who owned the bag), Presinal lost his status with major league baseball. The news took Mets officials by surprise:

Asked what role Presinal played in his star pitcher's rehab, Minaya responded: "There is no -- as far as I know, there is no connection between Nao and the Mets and Pedro. That is news to me."

As for Presinal working with Martinez, he said: "I don't know. I don't know that."

Interestingly, Nao's training has Pedro ahead of schedule, and Presinal says Martinez will be like new again. Looks like some eyebrows are going to be raised this season if Pedro looks that strong again.

He will be tested.

He's recovering from an injury, isn't he allowed to have medicine to help him recover?

Are we going to start penalizing pitchers who have performance enhancing Tommy John surgery?

Jeez, are these denials coming directly from the Bush administration? I think I could taste my own vomit while reading this article....

And Ivan, if these jokers want to take crap that is not allowed in the States, let them play in the damn Dominican all year....all year. And if you think that is all they took you are more naive than I can help you with....Just read "Game of Shadows" and lay off that crap about proof beyond a reasonable doubt. I can hear that crap coming from a mile away already.....

i'll chime in with an easy one. the sound of the game.

my favorite is the sound of a home run ball the instant it goes the off the bat. all the others, from 'play ball', to 'your out', to slapping the glove, or sliding into a base. even the crowd cheering or booing is great.

i can't stand constant music at games and i think mlb does a decent job compared to the other sports at limiting it.

harry kalas also comes to mind. what a voice.
