Frivolous Suit Dimissed

The Mother's Day fiasco is over:

A judge has dismissed a lawsuit claiming the Angels discriminated against men by giving tote bags to women during a Mother's Day baseball game.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Jonathan Cannon ruled Thursday that the giveaway was not biased against men and that the May 8, 2005, event was a way to honor mothers.

The lawsuit, filed by Los Angeles psychologist Michael Cohn, claimed thousands of men and fans under age 18 were each entitled to $4,000 in damages because they were treated unfairly. Women over 18 received the gifts that day.

The Angels changed the giveaway to all fans after the suit was filed. I hope they go back to the original idea. And it looks like Michael Cohn will have to pay attorney's fees. I hope Moreno used a very expensive lawyer.

Lawsuits like this are why good Americans hate lawyers. Remember it is the 99% of lawyers like this guy who give the rest a bad name.

The lawyer took the case and got paid to do so. Why is it his fault?

More likely the lawyer cooked up the case and found the shrink to be his nominal plaintiff.

It's not the lawyer or lawyers in general who are at fault (except for the ambulance chasing injury attorneys, maybe). It ignorant, lazy Americans who have an unending sense of entitlement and arrogance. Who can blame the lawyers for taking work, and I echo the sentiments above about this schmuck having to pay the legal fees - good for him! And no, I am not a lawyer.

Bah humbug. Mother's Day is a crock anyway. Anyone daft enough to want a bag should get a bag.

Why the hell would a lawyer cook up a case like this and find some dope to be our client? Because we like wasting time and money? I assure you that we don't. One thing about us is we don't look at a stupid-ass cause of action like this and see a path to fame and fortune. We, like you, can tell the stupid from the not stupid. Give us some freaking credit.
