Groundballs and Strikeouts
Rich Lederer at Baseball Analysts provides a nice graphic example of why it's good to have pitchers who excel at striking out batters or inducing ground balls. And the ability to do both appears to define an elite pitcher.

I'd bet his graph would show stronger results if he used K and BB rates, instead of his K and GB rates.
With a 3D graph of K rate, BB rate, and GB rate, you can really predict pitcher success well. You'll also see Liriano almost all by himself in one quadrant, having one of the best K/9 and K/BB figures, and a better GB rate than Santana, Pedro,, and Schilling.
