San Diego Bound

Greg Maddux and the Padres finished their deal. Maddux earns $10 million in 2007 and between $6 and $10 million in 2008. Not bad for a 40-year-old+ pitcher. Since he lives in the area, I wonder if Maddux might become the pitching coach when he retires?

Not unless Balsley decides to leave the team.

Alderson, on orders from Moore won't pay Maddux or anyone else big money for long. They'll ship him out somewhere. They only hire kids that they don't have to pay or try to "sell" the nonsense "San Diego" discount. Moore wanted a new ballpark so he could own downtown now hitters won't play there but the Padres just get richer at the fans expense.

If Moore (sic) just "wanted a new ballpark" and "get richer at the fans expense", he wouldn't have put division winning teams in Petco for two consecutive years, and he wouldn't be fielding the team that's out there now. There would be no Cameron, no Maddux, no Giles, no Hoffman.

Beyond that, Moores is one of the least greedy owners in professional sports. His main passion in life is philanthropy, and has often professed that he will die penniless. Basically, you don't know what you're talking about.

Padre fan is remarkably stupid.
