Bochy Looking for Work?
6-4-2 Links to a post at Gaslamp Ball about San Deigo encouraging other clubs to talk to Bochy about managing. Bruce is one of the longest tenured managers in the game, second to Bobby Cox in years with one team. He's finished first four times, and two years in a row. I wonder who Alderson would want to bring in?

Is Davey Johnson available? He hasn't managed since 2000, but he's still "only" 63, younger than Felipe Alou, Frank Rominson, Joe Torre or Bobby Cox, and almost the same age as Lou Piniella. Plus his career winning percentage (.564) is higher than any living manager in history.
For whatever reason, word out of Washington is that Johnson is not being considered for the Nationals managerial position. It's a damn shame, and nobody has been all that clear on why he's not in the running, but his name has appeared exactly ZERO times as a candidate since Robinson was let go. Perhaps he lacks the desire to get back in the game? Perhaps he's thought as too crabby a manager for the FO?
If the Nats end up hiring Dusty Baker when Johnson is still out there, I'll eat my shoe.
To be clear, nobody is "encouraging" Bochy to do anything; the Padres are merely giving other clubs permission to talk with him if they wish to do so.
