Ryan Howard picked up The Sporting News Player of the Year Award yesterday. It's voted on by players. Ortiz came in second, Pujols third. Clearly, MLB players dig the long ball. Congratulations to Ryan Howard on the award!

re: ryan howard player of the year

well deserved. based on his second half stats, howard might well hit 70 home runs, walk 150 times, drive in 200 runs and have an OBA of .500 and a slugging average of .700 next year.

Seriously, folks, he will be a very dangerous hitter next year together with his all star buddy Chase Utley.

And to think, it took charlie manuel until July to pair these two in the lineup card and finally see the phils start to win.
