Padres Take the Lead

Josh Barfield homers in the bottom of the seventh to put the Padres up 2-1 on the Pirates. Peavy's struck out 10 and walked just one through seven. Duke leaves after 6 1/3 with a man on first.

The Dodgers are losing to the Diamondbacks 5-3 in the sixth. Carlos Quentin picked up his 20th extra-base hit today, a home run. He only has 35 hits total. When he hits them, they go a long way.

If these scores hold up, San Diego will extend their lead to 1 1/2 games in the West.
