Wheeling in the Runs

The Astros go with Wheeler in the ninth since Lidge pitched two innings yesterday. Dan gets the first out but Vizcaino hits a pinch-hit double, then David Eckstein collects his third double of the game to tie the score at four. Duncan flies out and Pujols is intentionally walked to bring Spiezio to the plate.

Update: Scott walks to load the bases.

Update: Encarnacion grounds into a force to end the inning. The Astros need to bat at least one more time to win this game.

Update: Great Scott! Ensberg still has the great eye and leads off the ninth with a walk. Berkman follows with a single, the Luke Scott comes through with his second home run of the night, sending St. Louis to defeat and cutting the Cardinals lead in the Central to 4 1/2 games. That gives Scott six home runs in September, and the Cardinals magic number stays at five.
