Glavine Groovin'
Tom Glavine seemed to shake off the rust from his last start with 6 1/3 scoreless innings as the Mets went on to shutout the Dodgers 7-0. The Mets pitching in general is on a roll, allowing 1 run in the last three games and 10 runs in their last six, 9 earned. Glavine walked none and struck out five.
Brad Penny's declined continues, however. Again, he goes less than six innings. He also allows two home runs. He's now allowed 10 since the All-Star break in 62 2/3 innings. Before the break opponents hit just seven off him in 108 1/3 innings. The loss puts the Padres 1/2 game out of first place in the NL West.
