No-Hit Sanchez
Anibal Sanchez has a no-hitter through eight innings against the Diamondbacks. He's walked four, and his defense turned one double play behind him. The Marlins lead 2-0 on two solo home runs. Jackson, Gonzalez and Byrnes are due up in the top of the ninth.
Sanchez is at 93 pitches, so the former Red Sox farm hand should have enough for the ninth. Sixty of those pitches have gone for strikes.
Update: The Marlins don't score in the bottom of the eighth. Can Sanchez get three more outs without allowing a hit? The Diamondbacks were the last team with a no-hitter, Randy Johnson throwing a perfect game. Will they be the next victim?
Update: Jackson strikes out, looking bad doing so. One out.
Update: Luis Gonzalez pops out to third on a 2-1 pitch. Two out.
Update: Byrnes grounds out to Ramirez deep at short for the no hitter!
Update: The call at first base was very close. When I saw it real time, I thought Byrnes beat the throw. I just watched it twice with Tivo slow motion, and the throw just got Byrnes by a hair. Great job by Sanchez. The Marlins improbable season continues.
Update: It's the fourth no-hitter for the Marlins. See what you miss, Florida fans, by not showing up for the game?

AWESOME. It's always great to see a no-hitter, and even better when it's a rookie. Sanchez has made the Nationals (who, for all their pitching woes, have a damn decent battery including Soriano, F. Lopez, Ryan Zimmerman, Nick Johnson and Austin Kearns) look foolish every time we've faced him. It's great to see that he's dominating other teams too.
and the Red Sox' season somehow gets worse
I would really like to see florida get the wild card (by winning the massive tie).
Florida Fans didn't miss anything, we all watched it on TV.
ARE there actually fans in miami who watch the marlins on tv?
baseball, i mean
