Williams Wins

Dave Williams out-pitches John Smoltz as the Mets dampen the Braves playoff hopes with a 4-1 victory. Williams is turning out to be a another excellent acquisition by New York this year. He's now 3-0 since joining the Mets with a 3.24 ERA. The biggest improvement since coming over from the Reds is in his strikeout to walk ratio. He walked and struck out 16 in 40 innings with the Reds. He's struck out 15 and walked just two in 25 innings with the Mets.
