Pitching Poorly in a Win

It's an unusual night for Jason Marquis, as he's pitching poorly but winning. He's given up five runs in five innings, but the St. Louis offense came back against the Fish to score seven runs. Right now, Jason is in line for the win.

Albert Pujols hit home run 39 in the game. It's the 240th of his career, giving him a 40 home runs average over his first six seasons.

I don't know how unusual that is considering he has 13 wins despite a 5.77 ERA.

If the Cardinals manage to hold on, it will be Marquis' 14th win of the season, putting him in a five-way tie for most wins in the NL.

His ERA is 5.86.

It actually is somewhat unusual.

When he's bad, he's really bad. Really really bad. When he's good, he's very good.

Really, he's only had one other outing like this where he won after giving up 5 runs in 5 innings.
