New Face at ESPN?

I received an anonymous tip today so take this with a big grain of salt. Will Carroll might be moving to ESPN.

A few weeks ago, I saw someone walking around the Bristol, CT, ESPN facilities with some Baseball Prospectus gear. I've seen this person a few times but I thought nothing of it at first. Then I saw that Will Carroll was resigning from The Juice Blog for reasons he couldn't divulge, and I put two and two together. That person I saw was Carroll, and I think he was here to develop a show or appearance with ESPN.

I e-mailed Will to see if this was true, and his reply was, "No comment." Let's hope it's true.

He hinted at a "big move" in a recent BP chat, too...good for him!

It would certainly add some thoughtfulness and actual content to ESPN's baseball coverage -- which is why it would surprise me. These days, the WWLIS is all about flash, controversy, and self-promotion. Hiring Will would be a step in the other direction.

On the other hand, it'd be a bit depressing to see him hawking ESPN Mobile.

Will Carroll to ESPN a good thing? Surely you jest? How is adding a self-proclaimed "Buzz Machine" and master of the unconfirmable rumor a step away from flash, controversy and self-promotion? And besides, isn't Krukker already filling BB2N's obstreperous husky guy quota?

Craig S Miles says it is true.

Who the heck is Craig S Miles and why is he any more believable than "Always Wrong" Carroll?

F**k, ESPN Mobile is better than Carroll. Why doesn't someone call into his radio show and ask him directly? Oh yeah, no one listens to his radio show.

Hey ESPN - if Carroll's on your network, I'm never watching you ever again.
