Shortened Season
A Yankees minor league pitcher received a 50 game suspension today.
Major League Baseball suspended New York Yankees minor league pitcher Daniel McCutchen for 50 games on Tuesday for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.
Given the hype over the years about home run hitters doping, I'm continued to be impressed at the number of pitchers caught. Maybe we should be looking as critically at high strikeout numbers as we are at high home run numbers.

Good point. I guess 100 MPH pitchers grow on trees.
A quick Googling of Daniel McCutchen shows he has battled elbow problems in the past but has no problem with velocity. Also:
Nardi Contreras (Yankees Minor League Pitching Coordinator): Here's a guy that had 150 innings this year before we even got him, so we're kind of shutting him down already. He's on a 50 pitch or three inning maximum now. He'll pitch every five days like a starter, but we want to keep his innings under control.

He's pitched a lot. He's old for the circuit and can't afford to rest. I know we tend to correlate performance with power, but it may be more appropriate to correlate performance with stamina or healing.
