Canseco Right Again
Via Deadspin, the story of an incident in 2001 connecting Juan Gonzalez to steroids. It's a good read, but once again, someone Canseco names in his book is found to have another connection to steroids. Jose's credibility on the subject just keeps growing.

"'The Canadians (said) they don't have enough information to proceed criminally, for reasons that still escape us,' says Rob Manfred, MLB's executive vice president for labor relations and human resources."
Not a mystery, Rob. Gonzalez said the bag belonged to Presinal, and Presinal said it belonged to Gonzalez, and the cops had no evidence proving which one of them was lying. Can't get past "beyond a reasonable doubt" with that.
Every day, in every city in America, cops and prosecutors turn loose people in similar circumstances, as when a rock of cocaine is found in the floor of a car occupied by four people, and all of them disclaim knowledge.
A five-year-old story about a guy who's in the independent leagues. Even Buster Olney might find this a bore. The media craze about steroids in baseball is getting real long in the tooth. Unless Bonds gets indicted, it'll be hard to breathe new life into this elderly saga.
My guess is Mitchell's report, whenever it gets done, will be the last hurrah even for the media. Most everybody except mediots lost interest long ago. Other doping scandals have taken over.
