Maddux Almost a Dodger

FoxSports is reporting Maddux likely going to the Dodgers. No other details are available as the deal needs to be approved by the commissioner. It's a good place for Maddux, as he can use some time in a pitcher's park. At this point, however, I don't think he can really help a club. He looks done to me.

Update: ESPNews is reporting the Cubs are getting Cesar Izturis. The perfect Cub. Low OBA, low slugging percentage.

so the huge, multi-team deal between the Pads, Red Sox, etc. never materialized?

For Cesar??

Wow.

Absolutely worst trade of the day. The Cubs are officially a worse team after their trades today. They have less talent on the Major League Team, they have taken on MORE SALARY, and they have paid cash to both teams they traded with. In the end, they literally paid to make their team worse.

How is Izturis different from...?

Neifi Perez
Freddie Bynum
Jose Macias
Angel Pagan
Juan Pierre
Ronny Cedeno

we already have enough Futility Infielders. I have no idea what Dusty's fetish over little, semi-quick guys with no average, patience, or power, and overrated skills in the field. These guys are all terrible AAAA players and contribute absolutely nothing to a roster. What a group of guys to build your team around. Fire Hendry. Fire Dusty. Fire everybody and start over.

Adrian - they also had Jerry Hairston Jr for a while.

And Tony Womack.

it's funny, because those were the first two guys I had on my mind, but ironically forgot to put down.

We also had Damian Jackson, Augie Ojeda, Alex Gonzalez (not the Red Sox' one), Jose Hernandez, Ramon Martinez, Rey Ordonez, Tom f'n Goodwin, and a guy in triple-A right now named Ryan Theriot, who's the same thing. All in Dusty's tenure.

This is a horrible deal for the Cubs. Maddux did want to leave for a contender, but now you're going to pay Izturis $4.15 million to do the same thing as the rest of your lineup?

The Cubs would be better off with a C-grade prospect who's never made it out of rookie ball.
