One More for Utley

Chase Utley led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a single to extend his hit streak to 27 games. He then stole a base and scored on a Howard double as the right side of the Phillies infield conspires to put Arizona behind 3-2 in the top of the sixth.

Update: Utley picks up a second hit as the Phillies defeat the DBacks 5-2. One more game and he's halfway to DiMaggio.

we've been lucky in philly to have some hit streaks like this two years in a row.

Yay hit streaks!

What I'd prefer at this point is some pitching streaks. More games like Lidle pitched today would be keen.

re: Utley's 27 hit streak and Rollins 38 game hit streak

I'm wondering if any team ever had two players have a 38 game hit streak and a 27 game hit streak in the same season as the Phils have had with Rollins and Utley this season--and have a boomer like Ryan Howard be on pace to hit more than 50 homers--and still be on pace to win only 76 games, a decrease of more than 10 off their 88 game wins from last year.
