If You Can't Hit it Out ...
For the second time today, Beltre hit the top of the wall in the outfield. The first went for a double. His second became of comedy of miscues on the part of the Red Sox fielders. Crisp went back for the ball, leaped, but he lost it and was about 10 feet from where the ball hit the wall. It rolled to Ramirez, who is trying to back up the play. Manny attempts to barehand the ball, and knocks it backward toward Coco. Crisp picks up the ball and overthrows two cutoff men. Lowell ends up picking up the ball, but his throw to the plate is late and Beltre scores on an inside the park home run. The Mariners take an 8-7 lead in the bottom of the 8th.
Update: Jason Varitek can hit it out as he blasts one deep into right field, a two out homer to tie the game at 8.
Update: Sexson takes Timlin deep in the bottom of the ninth to win the game for the Mariners. They're within four games of first place.
