Quiz Time

Mike Wechsler points out this nice baseball quiz at ESPN.com. Answering off the top of my head, I got 38 out of 50.

Oh, ugh. I only got 29 (I bombed on a bunch of the career record questions).

38 as well.

And, of course, the first question is completely historically inaccurate.

When I was younger, and reading about baseball history, I would have done better. In recent years, my interest in baseball, though still strong, has been interrupted by "life". I wish I could have gotten a higher score than the 28 that I got. I'm bummed. I guess I need to go to the public library.

I got 29, although there were a couple that I knew the right answer to, but convinced myself to go in a different direction.

It's interesting to look at the results for the ESPN "analysts" and the group of MLBers that took the test. Somehow, I'm not surprised that Steve Phillips did the worst overall out of the "analysts".

Thanks to some solid guessing, I scored a 33! Did I beat Steve Phillips? I didn't look. I'd like to see other baseball notables, like Dave Kingman, Yogi Berra, Bill "Spaceman" Lee, and the "great" Bob Boone. I'd bet Yogi would score highest of that list, with Kingman in dead last of all human beings who took the quiz.

40 for me. I faded badly on recent history after starting 23/24.

34. Seriously, how am I supposed to know where Vin Scully went to college?

Posted by: mark at July 12, 2006 11:29 PM

32. The Scully answer makes sense if you're familiar with the guy, I guess, but I'm a Dodger fan.

Hate to pimp myself, but I feel very proud of my 45. I even missed a gimme (the one about the numbers) Felt good to beat Neyer.
Fulldisclosure however, I have read several baseball books in the last 3 months. (About 5 or 6)
