Pop at the Bottom

It's nice to have two hitters like Kinsler and Laird at the bottom of your batting order. Each is batting over .300 and slugging over .500. They hit back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the second, each driving in and scoring a run. The Rangers lead the Astros 4-2 in the bottom of the third.

Update: Millwood and Mahay get lit up in the fourth. The Astros picked up six straight hits with one out. According to the comments, Millwood left with an injury, although it wasn't clear when the injury happened.

Showalter is sweet on Barajas, but Laird will eventually get most of the playing time. After a while, a 200-point difference in OPS is hard to ignore.

The Astros knocked around Millwood and now lead 5-4. Millwood has been pulled for an apparent injury. His home ERA got even worse tonight, and the Rangers announcers are clueless about the injury.

Make it 6-4 Houston as Ensberg doubles off Mahay.

Munson clears the bases with a double to make it 9-4 Houston. Fortunately for the Rangers, the A's and Mariners both lost tonight. It looks inpossible to fall out of contention in the AL West.

The Rangers annoucer just said Millwood left with "right bicep tendonitis." Millwood has had a bad case of Arlington-itis all season. The guy turns into an awful pitcher at home.
