Draft, The Next Generation
Kyle Drabek and Preston Mattingly, both sons of former major leaguers, were taken high in the draft today. I must be getting old, because I remember both their fathers coming up to the majors.

re: Doug Drabek, Kyle Drabek
The Phils took Doug Drabek's kid with their first round pick.
Doug Drabek was an essential part of the Pirates 1990-92 dynasty along with Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonilla & Andy Van Slyke. He was the staff ace, as I recall.
Of course, the phillies have drafted and/or developed major league progeny before, including Ruben Amaro Jr. (his dad played with the 60s Phillies and Ruben Jr with the 90s Phillies) Jason Grimsley (Ross's kid, Ross played with the 70s Reds teams and Jason started with the Phils in 1989, a long time ago).
Strangely, the Phils never drafted or attempted to obtain the rights to Ryan Luzinski, who never made it to the majors but was considered a hot prospect (Greg's son, Greg a slugger in the 70s for the Phils) or any of Bob Boone's kids, Aaron, Bret etc., Bob having caught for the Phils for like 8 years and for the 1980 World Series team, or for Gary Mathews Jr, even though Gary Mathews Sr. played on the 83 pennant winning team.
Doug Drabek was a tough guy who had a lot of good pitches. If his son is half of his talent, he'll be a good starting pitcher in the bigs.
