A Lasting Callup?

The Mets called up Lastings Milledge today to replace the injured Xavier Nady. Milledge had a great April and a not so great June; still his OBAs are high across the board even though his batting average is inconsistent.

Nady going on the DL have anything to do with the beanball he took to the ribs last night?

Nope- emergency appendectomy.

"Lastings Milledge?" That's quite a name.

Wow, his BBs went down (18->13), but his Ks doubled (13->25) in slightly fewer ABs (84->76) from April to May. I wonder if pitchers figured out how to pitch to him. Does anyone know if he has problems with breaking balls?

Lastings Milledge is no stranger a name to NY baseball fans than the late great Thurman Munson. Did anyone catch this kid's hose from RF that nailed Craig Counsell at 3rd in a game the Mets won in extras 1-0?
