Grand Old Man

Julio Franco hit his first home run of the season last night, making him the oldest man to homer in MLB. Congratulations to Julio! He's so old (or I'm so old), Julio came up a month before I graduated from college.

I wish Julio Franco all the best, but how is it that he's still in uniform and Rickey Henderson is on the outside?

I was in high school when he came up. Ha ha.

One surprising fact is that Franco's career almost ended when he was released by the Milwaukee Brewers in 1997. But then he had several terrific seasons in Japan and Mexico and re-entered MLB in 2001.

I've posted some links here:

As long as Julio's around, there will be one professional athlete older than I am. Go Franco!
