Ryan Madson's pitches must have looked fat in the first inning as the Nationals pound out five hits for five runs. Washington sent ten men to the plate, and Billy Traber had a single and an RBI before he faced a single opponent.

Update: Madson faces four batters in the second without recording an out. All come around to score, including a two run homer by Nick Johnson. The Phillies find themselves down 9-2 in the second.

And it doesn't appear to be any better in the 2nd for Madson.

See, I can follow the rules! ;-)

OR his hapless replacement, Fultz. Actually, Fultz's only unforgiveable error was walking Ryan Church (again). But that loaded the bases and allowed another sac fly, and then Howard's uncredited error in failing to turn the GIDP allowed another run to score. All the runs were charged to Madson, though.

The real question is: will the Nats somehow find a way to blow it, like last night? We do have a rookie pitcher on the mound...and it is Citizen's Bank Park....
