Griffey On DL
Surprise! Ken Griffey is on the DL again:
The Cincinnati Reds put Griffey on the 15-day disabled list Monday night following a 9-1 victory over Florida, giving him time to rest an inflamed tendon behind his right knee. Before the game, Griffey said he didn't expect to go on the DL.
Things changed after he got a magnetic resonance imaging test that found fluid in the tendon, prompting the Reds to make a precautionary move with the 36-year-old outfielder.
This injury doesn't appear to be that serious, but these nagging injuries to Ken are going to keep coming along. The team should just go into a season expecting no more than 120 to 130 games from Griffey in a season at this point.

It's sad that so many people have forgotten just how great Griffey Jr. was. You can read his offensive numbers, but he was also a tremendous defensive player. There was a time in the late 90s that if the ball was hit in the air anywhere toward the center of the field--left-center, right-center, deep, shallow--he'd be there to catch it. One of the greatest ever.
And during those times when he's been healthy with the Reds, he's been pretty good, too. Again, though, people forget that Griffey was a downright great player. He could have retired at the age of 30 and had the numbers to go into the HOF right there.
