Tejeda a Ranger
The Rangers had a comparative advantage in offensive outfielders. The Phillies had a comparative advantage in starting pitchers. Therefore, interteam trade occured. The Phillies sent Robinson Tejeda and Hank Blalock's younger brother Jake to the Rangers for David Dellucci. The acquisition of Wilkerson along with Phil Nevin's ability to DH made Dellucci expendable. He'll give the Phillies more options on offense.
Tejeda is a power pitcher, but he walks lots of batters. In high home run environments like Philly and Texas, that's going to hurt him. With Eaton undergoing surgery on his finger, however, the Rangers needed to find another starter. Robinson has potential if he learns to control the strike zone. It's a good trade for both teams.

Many people are suggesting that this is just the first step in a larger plan concocted by Pat Gillick. While it's possibly this is just an insurance policy for the injury-plagued Pat Burrell, the extra outfielder could mean more leeway in trading Abreu or Burrell for a quality starter. Don't forget the Phils already had a decent young #4 outfielder in Shane Victornio.
The Rangers pitching staff that was supposed to better this season will really miss Adam Eaton being out for an extended time. Only Kevin Millwood and Vicente Padilla have proven themselves as major league starters. They desperately need another proven starting pitcher. This could be another typical Rangers team with an outstanding offense but a mediocre pitching staff. Acquiring Millwood was not too big of a move since they lost Kenny Rogers. Can't see this team going far with this starting pitching staff.
