Strange Poll

According to this poll, fans want Barry Bonds records erased, but don't mind his election to the Hall of Fame. I'd like to see the wording of the questions.

Baseball Musings is conducting a pledge drive in March. Click here for details.

I don't trust the results of polls unless I see how the questions were phrased and who was polled.

The games were played. The results are what they are. Erasing the records would create a host of problems. Do you lower the ERA of pitchers who surrendered homers to Bonds? Why only Bonds? Who elses number do we erase? And so on. The Cincinnati Reds won the 1919 World Series regardless of the actions of the Black Sox. No one thought rewriting history made sense then and it doesn't make sense now.

Yeah, exactly. I despise Bonds with a passion, but the historical record is what it is.

Yeah. I'll always have a mental asterisk by Bond's numbers, but he was a legitimate 500 HR - 500 SB player.
