Ahhh, a rite of spring, Wood's Tinman to Dusty's Scarecrow.
So can we officially say that Kerry Wood ranks as one of the most over-rated pitchers (players?) of all time? The guy gets injured every time he touches the field.
That 20 strikeout game has carried him about as far as humanly imaginable.
I chuckled to see the pledge drive part underneath the post about Wood.
But yeah, "Kerry Wood hurt" has quickly become the bottom story of the day.
Wood's not overrated, he's just injury prone. A lot of really great athletes have been brought down by chronic injuries. But when Wood is healthy, he's golden.
On the other hand, some guys who got injured a lot early in their career got healthier as they aged. Such as Eric Davis, who had quite a few seasons of playing less than 120 games in his 20s.
nowhere in any atricle i've read about this does it say how long he is supposed to be on the shelf...was he gonna be ready for opening day anyway?
maybe he should become a full time closer...he was nasty in his short time spent as a reliever last year.
